THE SOLAR SYSTEM
Ibon Reyero Adriana Torres Alejandro López Helena Wheeler
INDEX
Mercury, Venus & Earth
The origin
Uranus, Neptune & Pluto
Mars, Jupiter & Saturn
The Sun
The Moon
The Origin
* The Solar System originated approximately 4.5 million years ago!HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?* It was due to the explosion of a STAR * After that, a CLOUD of gas and dust was formed * It began to CONTRACT and ROTATE* The matter concentrated in the center of the NEBULA & HEATED UP * This was the formation of the SUN * The rest of the materials hit each other, forming the PLANETS
MERCURY, VENUS & EARTH
MERCURY * CLOSEST planet to the Sun * SMALLEST planet in the Solar System * 1 year in the Earth is 87 days in Mercury
VENUS * Very similar to the Earth * As the Moon, it can be easily seen from the Earth * 1 year in the Earth is 224 DAYS in Venus
EARTH * 3rd closest planet to the Sun * Formed around 4.5 billion years ago * 365 DAYS to orbitate around the Sun
MARS, JUPITER & SATURN
MARS * A.K.A. the RED PLANET * BARREN DESERT with few signs of liquid WATER * Easily seen from the Earth
JUPITER * The BIGGEST planet * GAS giant * It has big storms like the GREAT RED SPOT
SATURN * GAS giant * It has RINGS * Each ring orbits at a different SPEED around the planet
URANUS, NEPTUNE & PLUTO
URANUS * It's name is based on the greek God of the sky Οὐρανός * Along Neptune, they are known as the ICE Giants
NEPTUNE * The 8th FURTHEST planet from the sun * Discovered in 1846 * Part of the GAS planets
PLUTO * Categorized as a DWARF planet * Through many discussions and being "kicked out" of the planets, it was named a panet again during 2020 * Pluto has FIVE moons
THE SUN
* The LARGEST object within our Solar System: 99'8% of the system's mass * Located at the CENTER of our Solar System * Formed about 4.5 billion years ago * Temperatures inside the Sun can reach 15 million degrees Celsius
THE MOON
* Earth's only natural SATELLITE * 5TH largest satellite in the Solar System * Formed 4.51 billion years ago * Neil Armstrong was the first human to touch the Moon, in 1969.
