The way seemed interminable, and the streets like the black web of some sprawling spider. The monotony became unbearable, and as the mist thickened, he felt afraid. The way seemed pleasant, and the streets like intricate threads of embroidery. The anticipation became unbearable, and as the sunlight broke through the clouds, he felt thrilled.

Now rewrite the second paragraph. Replace the industrial landscape with features of beauty. For example, you might decide that the traveller is looking at a magnificent church or beautiful park. Replace the barking dog and screaming seagulls with sounds that are soothing or uplifting. If you can, include imagery and language devices as the writer has done in their text.
