    • What do you like most about being a teacher?
    • Do you remember a favorite teacher you had? Why was s/he your favorite teacher?
    • How would you like your students to remember you?

2 - Our situation

Need help with time management?

Has your life changed because of the pandemic?

Are you stressed or zen about "so many things, so little time"?

How are you with technology?

Did you have time management issues before the pandemic?

Which area do you need help with?

3 - "is" vs. "should be"

chart 1

  • Draw in pie chart 1 what your time distribution is like now.
  • Draw in pie chart 2 what your time distribution should ideally be like.

(I chose these elements: work, family, house, personal time, and study), but you can choose your own.

Calendar

4 - Productivity tools

A layer calendar to set deadlines and priority filters.

How do you make sure that you are "on top of things"?What productivity tools do you use to help you get organized?

To-do List

A filtered list with priority settings; for today and for this week.

Note-taking app

Somewhere handy to keep track of things so you don't have to rely on your busy mind.

Cloud storage service

Somewhere safe to store files and access them from anywhere. Labels and organization are key.

5 - Prioritizing

Prioritizing a to-do list is not /should not be a matter of life or death. It's not Sophie's choice!

How can you prioritize a to-do list?

My suggestion is to think in terms of filters.

6 - Setting boundaries

&

Set physical, spacial boundaries

Set psychological, emotional boundaries

Some ideas

Some questions

  • It's about habit formation.
  • Programme your mind/body to see the separation between work and home life.
  • Create a "work mode" and a "home mode".
    • physical space
    • mental space
  • Train yourself and then train others to respect the boundaries.
  1. Where do you work? When do you work?
  2. How do you "separate" work from home?
  3. Do you set work time limits for communication? Are you replying to ALL messages at ALL times? Are you working on multiple people's office hours instead of your own office hours?
  4. If you don't know and respect your own office hours, how can others?

7 - Why is this worth doing?

Together discuss:

  • Why do you think making changes to your lives right now might be worth doing?
  • What kind of changes do you think you should make/need to make?

8 - Support system

You are not be alone, or you shouldn't be alone. We need a "work support system" and a "personal support system".

The question is, what kind of teacher do you want to be?

The Atlas teacher

No, I'm not talking about sports.

Carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders.

The question is, what kind of teacher do you want to be?

The Team leader teacher

Yes, I'm sort of talking about sports.

Sharing the responsibility, able to trust others to do their part.

Make peace, learn to let go, focus on what's important.

What is truly important?Who is truly important? Be present.

" Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion "

Parkinson's law

" The simplest solution is usually the correct one "

Occam's razor

The KISS principle:

keep it simple, stupid.

POST-session work

Have you identified your work life and personal life’s support systems? Who are they? How are you going to make sure you stay connected to them?

Which productivity tools are you using or will be incorporating to your work life?

How are you going to set physical and psychological boundaries between work and home/personal life?
