Popular SicilianCostumes
Sicilian folk costumes have always been an object of tourist attraction but also a symbol of being Sicilian. These clothes, as well as being used daily, were also used during parties and a dance in particular the Tarantella.

Women's folk costume
One of the oldest Sicilian female costumes is made of a cotton or linen skirt, called fadedda or fadetta. On the shoulders hangs a colored or white handkerchief pointed to the chest with a pin. A modest apron on the skirt, blue stockings, black shoes and a cloth cloak on the head which was an extra accessory used to go to the countryside or to the city. When they went to church, to some visits, they wore the faddigghia, a garnment the girls wore when they wanted to be seen by a boy.

Men's folk costume
One of the oldest male costumes is that of shepherd. It is made of a black jacket and trousers, made with goat skins. The shoes are made of animal skin. A brown cloth cap for the peasants, blue for the seamen covered his head. From the knee down their legs were covered with black cloth socks in winter, white cotton socks in summer. Of less recent origin, it is the coats that complete the male outfit.
