VERTEBRATE ANIMALS

  • They are animals that have got a backbone or spinal column.
  • There are five groups of vertebrate animals.

Vertebrate animals can be classified in FIVE GROUPS:

Reptiles

Fish

Mammals

Birds

Amphibians

Mammals

  • Mammals can be: CARNIVORIES, HERBIVORIES or OMNIVORIES.
  • They are VIVIPAROUS.
  • They breath with their LUNGS.
  • Most mammals:
  • Live in LAND and have 4 legs.
  • Live and WATER and have FLIPPERS to move.
  • Have FUR or HAIR to keep them warm.

  • Birds can be: CARNIVORIES, HERBIVORIES or OMNIVORIES.
  • They are OVIPAROUS, they lay eggs.
  • They breath with their LUNGS.
  • Most birds:
  • Can FLY.
  • Have 2 LEGS, 2 WINGS, a TAIL and a BEAK.
  • Have FEATHERS to keep them warm.
