THESE ARE 3 DIFFERENT WAYS YOU can START YOUR SENTENCE.

i know, 'there is' and 'there are' look really similar! What is the difference?

let me give you a few examples!

There is...

There are...

a cat a dog a man a child a teacher

three children seven bananas two monkeys eight coins ten men

you got it, right? we use 'there is' when the noun is singular, just one!

one banana, a banana

one monkey, a monkey

And we use 'there are', when the noun is plural, two or more!

four bananas

three monkeys

you can also add the colour, that makes your writing nicer!

four yellow bananas

three brown monkeys
