VERB: TO HAVE
• We use the verb have/has to talk about: - Possessions I have a new pair of shoes He has a dog and a cat - Relationships May has two cousins They have good parents - Sicknesses I have a tummy ache Martha´s brother has cancer • We use the verb have/has to describe: - Someone’s eyes Albert has the most beautiful brown eyes People from China have small eyes - Someone’s hair Henry has long curly hair We have medium straight hair
Affirmative Form
I have two siblings, my sister Ann, and my brother Alex She has a lot of book in her library They have such a lovely home I have short curly hair
Negative Form
• We can make negatives with don´t and doesn´t
We don’t have any children She doesn’t have car Peter and Carlos don’t have books in their home Samuel does´t have blue eyes
Interrogative Form
• We can make questions with do an does
Do you have apples to make the pie? Does Maria have a dress for the party? Do the children have toys top lay at the home? Does Peter have a cold?
We can combine the verb have with the question How many
It is used when we want to know the QUANTITY of something It is only used with plural countable nouns HOW MANY + PLURAL NOUN How many days does January have? How many people do you have working at the store? How many children do you have? How many cousins does Marianne have?
