“LET ME INTRUDUCE YOU TO MY FAMILY”

Hi, I´m Sara, I was born in Canada, but right now I'm living in New York, I’m 32 years old and I´m a designer. I work in a huge company that illustrates children's books. Today, I´d like you to meet my beautiful family. The man with the mustache is my father. He´s 60, his birthday was last month. He worked as a computer engineer for almost 40 years. He's retired now spending his days taking care of his wife and grandchildren. My mom, the pretty one, is 53, her name is Anita and she is a translator. She works for the embassy of the United States. She's very smart and also caring, she's always looking after us. I have two siblings, my brother, Matt, he just turned 30. He works as a journalist at the New York Times. He is very tall and thin, and has the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen. My sister Lucy, I just love her, she is the youngest, she is just 15, and she's still at school, but she's so brave and courageous about life, that everything she decides to do is going to turn out just fine. There you have it, my lovely family.

THE POSSESSIVE CASE (‘S)

The possessive ´s is used to talk about that something belongs to someone:

• Anne´s car is parked in the building next door (the car belongs to Anne)
• This is the dog's bed (the bed belongs to the dog)

It is generally used to show relationship between people:

• Anne is Tom´s mother (Anne is his mother)
• Patrick is Mary´s husband ( Patrick is her husband)
