HUCKLEBERRY FINN
The author:
MARK TWAIN
Mark Twain (1835–1910) was an American writer most famous for his children’s books ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ and ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’. His real name was Samuel Clemens, but he used the name Mark Twain for his writing career. When Samuel was 4, the family moved to Hannibal, a town on the Mississippi River. Samuel loved to watch the riverboats. Many of his stories were inspired by his adventures in Hannibal. His pen name "Mark Twain" comes from a riverboat term measuring the water’s depth. After working as a miner, he became a reporter and began writing short stories. These funny tales were full of adventure and soon Mark was one of the most famous American celebrities of his day. He is considered one of the greatest humorists in the United States.
When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant ... but when I got to be 21, I was amazed at how much he had learned in seven years.”
