TONYA'S LIFE

Tonya Maxene Harding is an American former figure skater, retired boxer, and reality television personality. She was born on 12th noveber 1970 in Portland. Harding was raised by her mother, who enrolled her in ice skating lessons when she was four years old. After climbing the rankings of US Championships Figure Skating between 1986 and in 1989 won the Skate America competition in 1989.In 1991, she distinguished herself to be the first American woman to compete triple Axel. Harding was a two-time Olympian and a two-time Skate America champion.

SKATER CAREER

Harding trained to be a figure skater with coach Diane Rawlinson.Then she entered in the Skate America competition in October 1989 and she was considered a strong contender at the U.S. figure skating championships in February 1990. Then she suffered from flu and asthma.

BOXER CAREER

In 2002, Harding battled Paula Jones at the Fox Network's celebrity boxing event, winning the bout. In February 2003, she made her official debut in women's professional boxing, losing a four-round split decision against Samantha Browning. She did another celebrity boxing match, on The Man Show. Years later she refused to "fight a man".Her boxing career was short by her asthma and her overall record was 3 wins and 3 losses.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

• In 1994, Harding was cast in a low-budget action film and in 2000, Harding competed to be a professional boxer and she take a part in some films, documentaries, books and academic studies.
• In 2014, were produced two television documentaries about Harding skating's life and career.
• After leaving skating and boxing, Harding worked as a welder, house painter at a metal fabrication company and hardware sales person at Sears. In 2017, she said she worked as a painter and bridge builder.
