What is an analogy?
What is an Analogy?
- An analogy is when you are making a comparison between two things to make something easier for one to understand, and therefore make their point.
- The word analogy comes from a Greek word which means proportionate. That means that the two things in the comparison in an analogy are similar.

ANALOGY #1
Words are just like that single raindrop - you never know where they are going to hit.
The dancers were like untamed flames across the stage. Each burst of energy spiking emotion into the viewers.
analogies and metaphors
What's the difference?
While both of them are very similar there is a difference between the analogy and the metaphor, though it's hard to pinpoint.
The analogy is the fact that you are comparing the two things and the metaphor is how you do it.
Once again, the difference between them is very slim and they are very similar (same with the simile).
