THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS

the present continuous

what is it? how can we use it?

the present continuous is used to express an action that is happening at the time of speaking

to form the present continuous, we use the present simple of the verb be + the -ing form of the main verb

I AM DOING AN ESSAY

we can use the present continuous for:

1. Actions taking place at the moment of speaking

I AM STAYING IN THE SPACE FOR TWO MONTHS

2. Actions taking place only for a limited period of time

SHE IS FLYING TO LONDON WITH HER BOYFRIEND NEXT WEEK

3. future arrangements

An arrangement is something that is done to prepare or plan for something in the future. An arrangement is also an agreement between two people or groups about how something happens or will happen.
