Vowels are sounds wich are produced when air flows freely through the vocal tract, causing the vocal folds to vibrate. There are 12 simple vowel sounds in English.

Dopthongs

In English, dipthongs are considered vowel sounds on their own: a dipthong is ONEvowel sounds with two moutheshapes, unlike Spanish, in which a dipthong is considered a combination of two vowel sounds.
