COMPARISON OF ADJECTIVES (superiority)

Adjetivos "cortos" o "largos"

1º tenemos que diferenciar si los adjetivos son "CORTOS" o "LARGOS" (tanto para comparativo como superlativo):

CORTOS

Son los adjetivos monosilabos, y los bisilabos acabados en "Y":Big, fast... Easy, lazy...

LARGOS

Son el resto de adjetivos bisilabos y todos los de más de 2 silabas:Boring, narrow... Beautiful, intelligent...

Veamos como se forman

empezamos con los "CORTOS"

Al fin al del adjetivo, añadimos "-er" para el comparativo y "-est" para superlativo

the nicestthe bravest the simplest

Si acaban en "-e" muda, sólo añadiremos "-r" (comparativo) o "-st" (superlativo)

the heaviestthe laziest the prettiest

Si acaban en "-y" ésta se quita y añadimos "-ier" (comparativo) o "-iest" (superlativo)

Si son monosilabos y acaban en Consonante+Vocal+Consonante se duplica ésta última (CVC -> CVCC) y añadimos "-er" o "-est"

a continuación los "largos"...
