MODAL VERBS
Definition
Uses
Modal verbs are used to express ability, obligation, permission, assumptions, probability and possibility, requests, offers, and advice.
A modal verb is a type of auxiliary verb. Each modal verb can have more than meaning which depends on the context of that sentence (or question).
EXAMPLES
Can, could, may, should, might, must, will, would.
Semi modals: Needn't and ought to
EXAMPLE SENTENCES
If he is not careful, he could get hurt.
The boys might be hanging out.
They must be having fun.
Could, might or may would fit into the context of the picture, because those verbs express ability (could) and possibility (might or may), we can easily chose the latter because we actually don’t know what’s going on on in the picture, we are only stating or giving a possibility of what could be happening.
