Use: to say that one person forces another to do sth
She makes me study a lot (= She forces me to study a lot). Does she...? She doesn't... Past tense: made She made me study a lot. Did she..? She didn't..
LET + OBJECT + ZERO INFINITIV
Use: to talk about giving permission
Dad lets you go out tonight. (= He gives you permission to go out tonight). Does he? He doesn't Past tense: let I let you go out that night.
BE ALLOWED + TO INFINITIVE
Use: to say what you can/can’t do
We aren’t allowed to smoke in the office. (= We can’t smoke in the office). We are allowed to smoke outside. (= We can smoke outside). Are we..? We aren't.. Past tense: was/were allowed to We were allowed to stay up late. Were we..? We weren't...
