SummaryMatilda is a five and a half year old girl with an incredible intelligence and some magical powers that she isn't yet aware of. Unfortunately, she has a family who doesn't treat her right. Unlike Matilda, her parents aren't very bright. They don't like the fact that she likes reading and wants to go to school. But she manages to go to school like other children. The school is called Crunchem Hall Primary School. Matilda's teacher is called Miss Honey. She is a wonderful, warm-hearted and sweet woman. On the other hand, the principal of the school, Miss Trunchbull, is very cold-hearted and gives horrible punishments to students. One day, Miss Trunchbull comes into Miss Honey's class, asks students hard math questions and abuses them if they don't know the answer. Matilda's friend, Lavender, places a newt on the principal's drinking glass. When Miss Trunchbull sees it, she panics and blames Matilda. Matilda gets so angry that magical power gets over her and she is able to knock the drinking glass over with her mind. This is how she discovers her powers.
