Facilitators creative tasks

Do you remember the heady, optimistic days of Britpop, when things could only get better?

Its hard to believe it is 25 years since Jarvis Cocker contemplated chance meetings in his song Something Changed.. Where would I be now, where would I be now if we’d never met? Something Changed is a theatre project for people in their 30’s and 40’s, celebrating how things can change when we make connections, when we close the space between us. Using lyrics and music of the Britpop era as inspiration, the creative process will involve movement, drama, writing and storytelling, drawing on its participants lived experiences.

Choose someone in the group and write a letter to them beginning with ‘to look at me you’d probably think…’ or ‘do you believe….’

Let the rhythm of WIDE OPEN SPACE by MANSUN inspire your creative response

Think back to a time when something changed for you

Write about that time when...

FOLLOW THE PROCESS WITH A CREATIVE DIARY

I still talk to my partner occasionally through text message which is quite nice as it shows we made a real connection through the living letters project.

"It’s moments and friendships like these they stay in people’s minds and hearts forever."

"It’s moments and friendships like these they stay in people’s minds and hearts forever."

My partner is such an amazing women and very inspirational and I love learning from her. This process was the best thing I’ve probably done and if I had the opportunity I would do it again 100% as I’m super happy to have My Partner in my life and she’s someone who will stay in my life for as long as I can.

The Letters

To Look at meYou'd Probably Think?

Back

"To look at me you’d probably think you’re seeing a quietly spoken, frail older person who may be in need of some assistance."

“To look at me you’d probably think I was much happier than I feel, although some days I feel even happier than I look.”

To Look at me You'd probably Think?

"To look at me you’d probably think “she’s not old” but I’ve got a few years under my belt!"

“To look at me you’d probably think, "There goes another middle aged non descript woman.”"

“To look at me you’d probably think I’m a nerdy bookworm who’s really shy and a bit weird. But I’m not!”

Back

I still talk to my partner occasionally through text message which is quite nice as it shows we made a real connection through the living letters project.

“The year 2020 was to be my first year of freedom, “

The Letters

“I am also an artist and I love art and drawing. I have a real passion for food, and love watching cookery shows and trying new foods.”

“My singing and performing arts helped me get through some tough times over the years.”

Next

“am only now realising that perhaps my father leaving at such a young age could well be the source of my fear of rejection. I know that I suffer from that fear and have begun to explore the reasoning behind it.”

"Life tends to be all about balance though, and as much as I would like to live in a bubble of perfection where nothing negative ever touched me, that’s not reality"

Back

The Letters

"I just love the way you look at your world and interact with the people around you. I know you have sent me links in another email. I haven’t looked at them yet, but I will. Maybe the answer to my next question will be there but I have been wondering what you do from day to day."

“ I am not good at talking about myself I had a darkness in my life in education however I am actually making a book on the struggle on leaning with speech language and how to cope with it and being their self.”
