ADVERBS AND EXPRESSIONS OF FREQUENCY

USE!

We use ADVERBS and EXPRESSIONS OF FREQUENCY to say HOW OFTEN you do something

*I always have tea for breakfast *She doesn´t work every day

ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY

  • ALWAYS- USUALLY- OFTEN- SOMETIMES- HARDLY EVER.- NEVER

Adverbs of frequency go before all main verbs (except the verb to be- they go after the verb to be) *He never smokes *Sarah is always happy In negative sentences, the adverb of frequency goes between don´t/doesn´t and the verb *She doesn´t often go to the cinema

EXPRESSIONS OF FREQUENCY

  • EVERY DAY- ONCE A WEEK- TWICE A MONTH-ETC.

Expressions of frequency usually go at the end of the sentence or verb phrase *I have English classes every day *Laura goes to the gym twice a week

HOW OFTEN...?

We use How often...? to ask about Frequency

How often do you... *go to the cinema? *post sth on Instagram? *practise English at home?
