Task 1

Getting to know your partner

In this task you'll exchange personal information and cultural views. Before the session:Think about what you would like to know about your partner, and what you would like to tell them about yourself. Think about their culture. List the images that come to your mind when you think of The Netherlands and Dutch people. Are these stereotypes? During the session: Greet your partner. How do you like the room you are in in Altspace? Exchange personal information. Exchange & discuss the views on the other culture (Dutch/Spanish) What do you have in common? (personal and cultural issues) Evaluate together this first meeting: how did it go? How did you experience your first VR? How did you like the task? How did you experience the interaction? What did you learn in this first meeting (linguistic, cultural, personal, technical issues...)

Task 2

The value of culture in a globalised world

Before the session: Watch the video "Girl icon" and reflect on it (click on the image). Think of people that you might know from a different cultural background. What do you know about them? Do you have any contact with them? Do you talk about your cultures? Have you travelled around and been in touch with other cultures? What has your experience been like? Prepare yourself to exchange your views on cultures in your world: What's your view of the multicultural society: name positive aspects & challenges (think in social, economic, educational and political issues)

During the session: Discuss the content of the video and the viewing experience (2D versus 3D). Discuss the value of cultures in a globalised world: - Reflect on this girl's life and compare it to yours. Discuss the work of this type of foundations. - What are the positive aspects of a multicultural society, a globalised world? What are the challenges? - Is it possible to contribute to a better diverse world? How?
