1: an act, process, or instance of translating: such as a: a rendering from one language into another also : the product of such a rendering (Merriam Webster)
- Translation means to render a text that is in one particular language, to another language. It’s the accurate transference of information in order to represent the original document to the target document. (One hour translation)

In Nida’ book, The Theory and Practice of Translation, he defined translation as “Translating consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closest natural equivalent of the source language message, first in terms of meaning and secondly in terms of style.”
- Newmark defines translation as ‟a craft consisting in the attempt to replace a written message and/or a statement in one language by the same message and or statement in another language”.

A set of steps that a translator must follow in order to render an accurate target text (TT), which means that it represents the contents of the source text (ST)

STEP 1: translation
- Read to understand what the text is about.
- Read for a second time to analize the unkown words/prhases.
- Translate (using technological tools).
This includes the whole translation tasks that the translator must follow.

- A revission what has been completed in the previous step.
- Ask another translator to read (parallel).
- Put the words in context (check).
Now, you have your translation (a first draft).

step 3: proofreading
- Ask to another person to read your translation.
- Do not refer to the ST.
- Check punctuation.
- Check the format.
- Check typos.
This is the last step that you, as a translator must follow.
