Is a phonplogical gruop consisting of a vowel sound followed by a non-adjecent glide within the same syllable
SPANISH DIPHTHONGS
ENGLISH DIPHTHONGS
A strong and weak vowel or two weak vowel combinate to form a single syllable.
Made of two components, begins as one vowel and finishes as another
Example: <ai> /ay/ <baile> /bayle/
Example: <boy> /ɔy/ <boy> /ɔy/ <ride> /ay/
Glides (or "semivowels") are sounds that are not phonetically dissimilar from vowels but behave like consonants
