VERTEBRATE

All vertebrates have an internal skeleton made up of bones. This skeleton includes a backbone, which consists of ring-like bones called vertebrae.

INVERTEBRATE

Invertebrate do not have an internal skeleton made up of bones, so they do not have a backbone. Most invertebrates are oviparous.

NON-SEED PLANTS

Non-seed plants do not produce flowers and seeds. They reproduce with spores. These are special cells with a resistant covering. Spores can form new plants.

SEED PLANTS

Seed plants reproduce with seeds. Seeds contain a miniature plant, known as the embryo, a seed coat and a food store. When a seed germinates, the food store supplies the embryo with nutrients.

PROTISTA KINGOM

Protozoa

Algae

Algae are aquatic living things that can be unicellular or multicellular. They can make their own food. Some multicellular marine algae can grow to a very large size.

Protozoa are unicellular living things that live in aguatic environments. Tey feed on other organisms. Some protozoa can cause diseases, like malaria.

Algae are very nutritious, so they are used as food in many countries. They are also used as fertilizer and to produce cosmetic.

Amoeba

Paramecium

The Monera Kingdom

Monerans are unicellular living things. This kingdom includes bacteria, the most abundant of all living things.

BACTERIA

  • Smallest and simplest living things. They can only be seen through a microscope.
  • Most of them feed on other organisms and other can make their own food.
  • Bacteria can be found everywhere in the world.
  • Some bacteria are helpful (to make yoghurt) and others are harmful (cause cholera.)

Viruses

VIRUSES

Viruses are not included in any of the five kingdoms because they are not considered living things. A virus is not a cell. It is a microscopic body that can only reproduce inside living things. Viruses may cause illnesses.
