Algebra

1. To simplify algebraic expressions2. The difference between expressions & equations 3. Using function machines 4. To substitue values into a formula

Bonus question: What are like terms?

While you wait: Try to complete these algebra pyramids. Add your way to the top.

Simplify the algebraic expressions below - Qs 1-4

Like terms: Terms whose variables (such as x or y) with any powers are the same. Examples: 7x and 2x are like terms because they are both "x". 3x2 and 2x2 are like terms because they are both "x2". But 7x and 7x2 are NOT like terms (the powers are different), they are unlike terms.

In Algebra a term is either a single number or variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together.

Match up the bubbles! They are all in pairs.
