General rule

Rule 2

The general rule is to change the verb to its ING form, just adding -ING to the end of the verb.Exs: play - playing look - looking eat - eating stay - staying

If the verb ends in an "E" we remove the "E" and add -ING .Exs: live - living give - giving write - writing make - making

If the verb ends in a consonant+vowel+consonant, we double the final consonant and add -ING Exs: swim - swimming get - getting plan - planning put - putting begin - beginning

If the verb ends in -IE we change it to -YING Exs: die - dying lie - lying tie - tying
