Spelling rules

• When the verb ends in -e, we take out the -e and add -ing.

EX: Make Making

• When the verb ends in -c, we add -king.

EX: Picnic Picnicking

• When the verb ends in consonant - vowel - consonant, we double the consonant and add -ing.

EX: Hit Hitting

• When the verb ends in -ie, we take out the -ie and add -ying.
