MINDMAP
MAMMALS
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICSMost mammals live on land They have four legs Some live in water (flippers to move) Most mammals have fur or hair
NUTRITIONCarnivores Hervibores Omnivores Drink their mother's milk
RESPIRATION Breath with their lungs
REPRODUCTION Almost all mammals are viviparous
BIRDS
RESPIRATION Breath with their lungs
NUTRITION Carnivores Hervibores Omnivores Adults feed their chicks
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Most birds can fly They have wings, a tail and feathers They have light, hollow bones All birds have a beak
REPRODUCTION Oviparous (lay eggs)
REPTILES
NUTRITION Carnivores Some are omnivores
RESPIRATION Breath with their lungs
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Have scales (camouflage, protection, prevent water evaporation) Most reptiles have arms and legs Other reptiles swim Snakes slither
REPRODUCTION Most reptiles are oviparous
AMPHIBIANS
NUTRITION Most amphibians are carnivores
REPRODUCTION Oviparous
Young amphibians do not look like their parents. They transform as they grow. This transformation is called METAMORPHOSIS
RESPIRATION Babies live in water and breathe with their gills Adults breath with their lungs and moist skin
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS They have moist skin which absorbs oxygen
Some fish live in the sea or ocean (SALT WATER), other fish live in rivers and lakes (FRESH WATER)
FISH
RESPIRATION They take in the oxygen from water, using their gills
NUTRITION Carnivores Herbivores Omnivores
REPRODUCTION Almost all fish are oviparous They lay lots of eggs
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Fish have scales Scales act as armour (also help them swim, as do their fins)
INVERTEBRATES
ARTHROPODS Insects Arachnids Myriapods Crustaceans
MOLLUSCS Gastropods Cephalopods Bivalves
