SEASONS

Does Colombia have seasons?

I'm going to travel to Colombia but I don't know what to pack!

Thank you so much!I will check it out before I go and maybe look at other places to visit.

What places do you want to visit?

Que chévere! Bogotá can be chilly but some days it can be really sunny and warm. Cartagena is really hot and Medellin is less hot, Check the weather before you go.

I was thinking Bogotá, Medellin and Cartagena.

My last piece of advice, bring a light jacket which I think will be perfect for any place in Colombia.

In Colombia, we don't have the same seasons as many other countries. We measure local climates according to Pisos térmicos, which are based on altitude.

Icy weather. More than 3,000 meters / 9,800 feet above sea level. Temperature: 0℃ / 32 F Places: Alpine tundra and top of the mountains, such as Sierra Nevada de Santa María

Cold weather: 2,000 - 3,000 m / 6,500 - 9,800 ft Temperature: 12℃ /54 F Cities such as : Bogotá and Pasto

Warm weather: 1,000- 2,000 m / 3,280 - 6,500 ft Temperature: More than 18℃ / 65 F Cities such as: Manizales, Armenia and Pereira

Hot weather: Below 1,000m / 3,280 ft Temperature: More than 24℃ / 75 F Cities such as: Cartagena, Barranquilla, Medellin, Cali and Bucaramanga.

Our 2 seasons

In almost all of Colombia, we have 2 rainy seasons and 2 dry seasons! However in some parts of the Llanos Orientales Region, Amazonas, and the Pacific, there's only a rainy season all year round.

Our winter is without snow and isn't cold.

We don't have 4 seasons because Colombia is so close to the Equator.

Our warmest months are from May to August and our "coldest" are from November to February.
