We use the kilometer (km), the hectometer (hm) and the decameter (dam) to measure big lenghts.
1 dam = 10 m 1 hm = 100 m 1 km = 1000 m
1. Complete in your notebook.
2. Write what unit: meter or kilometer you would use for each measurement.
- The height of a building
- The length of the Great Wall of China
- Distance between two cities
- Width of a river
- Length of a car
3. Write in meters the distance that each vehicle has traveled.
4. Math challenge (group work)
Look at the map and fill in your notebook so that the following conditions are met: The red path is the longest The purple path is shorter than the green one The green way is shorter than the yellow
