A PET SCAN, which stands for Positron Emission Tomography, is an imagery technique which is used for the detection of diseases within the body
How does it work?
A special dye is ingested which will show areas of high chemical activity in the body.

What does it detect?
It measures blood flow, oxygen use, and it is used to detect cancers, heart problems as well as brain diseases.
FUN FACT: This procedure is outpatient, so if you get a PET Scan you can leave and go home.
Special dye can be taken orally, be injected into a vein or inhaled.
