He is famous for the stories about his trip to East Asia, manuscripts by Rustichello of Pisa with the original title of ''II Milione; The Travels of Marco Polo''A narrative that made the medieval age in Europe known, as lands and civilizations of Central Asia and China.

His travel book recounts 24 years of voyages and discoveries in territories far removed from Venice, between 1271 and 1295. While on his travels Marco Polo provides us with information about the places, people, landscapes, food, animals, customs and jewels.

In one of his trips, he visited Mongolia and he met Kublai Khan, a Mongol ruler and the leader of the Yuan Dynasty.
