Vandana Shiva, Scientist, philosopher and writer. Shiva was born in India and has achieved many accomplishments despite the obstacles she has had to overcome in her country for being a woman. Vandana Shiva, also known as Navdanya, is an experienced scientist, philosopher, writer and ecofeminist activist. From her perspective, nature, women and biodiversity conservation are the foundations of life and the pillars that have been shaping her path. Being her father a forester and her mother a farmer, she grew up surrounded by the love of nature since she was a child. As a young student, she participated in the Chipko Movement, a movement formed by women who came together to prevent logging in the Himalayas, acting from the philosophy of non-violence, which they inherited from Ghandi. In addition to her personal support to different actions and movements, in 1982 she created the Foundation for Scientific, Technological and Ecological Research, whose main objectives are: the dissemination of ecological agriculture, the maintenance of biodiversity, the commitment of women to the environmental movement and the revival of the democratic spirit. She was awarded the Alternative Nobel Prize in 1993 for placing women and ecology at the heart of the modern discourse on development. But the recognition of her defense of ecology and feminine values did not stop there, as in 2010 she received the Nobel Peace Prize.
