What are Fairy tales?
A fairy tale is a fiction story that contains imaginary characters and magical emenets.

- Most fairy tales contain morals that teach us lessons.
- Fairy tales differ from folk tales because folk tales are real beliefs and legends that are passed down while fairy tales include made up stories and fictional characters.
THe history of fairy tales
- Fairy tales were originally gruesome stories created for adults by people that believed in black magic at the time.
- It also stated that fairy tales were created by women to protest against men.
- The word "fairy tale" originally came from the french word "conte de fées" in the late 17th century.
- Fairy tales came from stories that were passed down orally in Europe.

Perrault started writing fairytales in the late 17th century, He got in trouble because tales at that time were regarded as an offence to the king.
