The history

Handball was born in 1898 in Denmark with the appearance of the "haandbold", a game that took place on a ground almost identical to that of today. It is an Olympic sport. This practice has developed in Northern Europe, Eastern Europe and some Asian countries.

Purpose of the game

- Goal of the game: to score more points at the end of regular time. Every time the ball enters the opponent's goal = 1 point The ball is held in the hand (dribbles, passes, shots). - Actual: 2 teams of 7 players + 5 substitutions

Presentation of the player

1- Goalkeeper 2- Right wing 3- Right back 4- Central 5- Left back 6- Left wing 7- Pivot

The goalkeeper

It's in the goal. He is the only one who has the right to play in the 6-meter area. He is also the only one who can touch the ball with his feet, but only if he is in his goal area. Only the goalkeeper can use his feet but only to save, he cannot kick.

Right and left wing

The two wings are confined to the corners of the field most of the time and must be good at hitting even very small spaces as, despite jumping towards the goal to get closer, they almost always have to shoot from very tight angles. They are very often the ones who go on the break.

Left and right back

The two full backs must have a good shot from distance because in addition to trying to get into the holes of the defense they must be able to shoot from 9-10 meters when the opposing defense offers no other possibilities. They are positioned to the right or left of the center back.

Central

The center is the brain of the team. It is he who has to create the actions, make the unmarked passes, and it is he who usually has to take responsibility for shooting or making a play that brings a teammate to the net when the rest of the team is scared. A good central must have an excellent vision of the game and also ready reflexes in order to make the most of the opportunities given by the opponents.

Pivot

The pivot is the most physically powerful player on the team. It is the one who gives and takes the most hits over the course of 60 minutes. Despite relatively little signs, the pivot is crucial in the role of the team because very often he procures red cards and penalties. It also has the role of attracting defenders and thus creating shooting spaces for the full backs and / or wings. His position is on the 6-meter line to fight with opposing defenders.

The dimensions of the playing field are 40 meters long by 20 meters wide. 9 meters from the goals there is a semicircular line that delimits the area from which the throw-ins are made after minor fouls. The line 7 meters from the net is the point from which the penalties are taken. Finally, 6 meters from the door there is another semicircular line that precisely defines the 6-meter area.

The field

The referee and the playing time

There are two referees in handball. It is played in two halves of 30 minutes each. Time is stopped whenever there is a penalty, the pitch needs to be dried, a player goes down or the ball goes into the stands.

I chose handball as a sport to make it known and because it is the sport I practice Thanks!
