Info

What are we going to learn?

Let's start with some examples!

By next year, schools will have been doing digital teaching for almost two years.

By 2025, drones will have become a big business.

In 2025, a lot of people will be using electric cars.

Future Continuous

Example 1.In 2025, a lot of people will be using electric cars.

We use the future continuous to talk about:

activities in progress at a time in the future.

To make the future continuous we use:

will/won't + be + ing form.

Future Perfect Simple

Example 2.By 2025, drones will have become a big business.

we use the future perfect simple to talk about:

activities finished before a time in the future.

to make the future perfect simple we use:

will/won't + have + past participle

Future Perfect Continuous

Example 3. By next year, schools will have been doing digital teaching for almost two years.

we use the future perfect continuous to talk about:

duration of activities before a moment in the future.

to make the future continuous we use:

will/won't + have + been + -ing form

Timeline 1

we can use timelines to demonstrate the meaning of these three structures.

By 2025, drones will have become a big business. We use the future perfect continuous to talk about an action that is finished before a time in the future.

Timeline 3

Future Perfect Continuous.

future.

now

started doing digital teaching

By next year, schools will have been doing digital teaching for almost two years.

We use the future perfect continuous to talk about how long an activity has been in progress before a particular time in the future.

One Last Thing To Notice...

the preposition "by",

We often use the preposition "by" with the future perfect simple and the future perfect continuous.

"Drones will have become popular by 2025".

"by" means "some time before...".

So, if you say "Drones will have become popular by 2025".

then you're saying "Drones will have become popular some time before 2025".

Let's recap!
