We normally use the following time expressions with the Past Simple: expressions with ago at the end (a month ago, two years ago...) Last night / week / year, at + a time, on + a day of the week or date, in + a year, in the past, yesterday, etc. All the time expressions can go at the beginning or at the end of a sentence, but they usually go at the end.
