Waste Watchers Challenge

New Year always comes with new resolutions, how about one in your list to help our planet?

Climate change is a result of the accumulated greenhouse gases (GHG) in our atmosphere. 7% of these gases come from landfills. Our waste goes to these landfills, so what about if we reduce our waste to begin with?

Bring your own resusable containers at Food Stores or for your Take Away meals.

When shopping, bring your own bags instead of using shopping plastic bags

Carry reusable water bottles with you and stop buying plastic disposable ones.

Use cloth instead of paper towels to clean your kitchen. Try old towels and t-shirts to make small cleaning cloths.

At the end of each week, note and review your progress. Consider the most effective actions you have chosen.

Share your achievements and best practices with the other Nesters in the ERG portal!

Choose the strategy that will help you reduce your waste for the next waste bag.

Weigh and note your waste bag and measure the diameter of your bag.

Woops, make sure you are not weighing other friends here!

SHARE YOUR PROGRESS!

1) Go to the NEST ERG portal and post your weekly progress if possible - it will encourage others! ;) 2) Think strategically! How can you actually dispose less waste week after week? Sky is the limit! Remember the 3 Rs:

  • Re-use
  • Recycle (that is not an actual waste)
  • Reduce
