CHAPTER V "I go on board in an Evil Hour"
On September 1, 1659, Robinson Crusoe sets sail for Guinea with a load of goods to sell to buy the slaves. Suddenly the ship is engulfed by another storm and two crewmen are missing. The ship is then captured by a Another storm that will destroy it completely. Crusoe loses sight of his companions overwhelmed by a giant wave, but he manages to save himself by reaching the shores of an unknown island and realizes with terror that he is the only survivor.
Chapter VI "I furnish myself with many things"
After the shipwreck, Robinson Crusoe starts exploring the island's beach and looks for what's left of the ship. He builds a raft with which He reaches the remains of the ship and transports some food ashore that will be enough for him to survive for a few days. he cultivates the land and procures clothing with goatskin; He also made a large cross, to be used as a calendar, so as not to lose track of time, but the more time passes, the more he realizes, with great terror, that he is the only inhabitant of the island.
Chapter XXIII "Friday"
After twelve years of solitude, he realizes he is no longer alone: on the beach he discovers the imprint of a foot larger than his own and some remains of food around the fire. With great terror he thus discovers that the island is the place where the savages bring their prisoners to perform human sacrifices and acts of cannibalism. In fact, shortly after he discovers that a victim is about to be sacrificed, he decides to free him by killing his torturers. The man saved will be renamed "Friday",( released on Friday ) and will become his faithful subject.The two establish a good friendly relationship, in fact Robinson teaches him the English language, and often makes him read the Bible to convert him to the Christian religion.
