It's a Wonderful Life
James Stewart, the actor who played the main lead, George Bailey, was amazing in this movie. He has so much emotion in the entire movie and the way he expressed it was amazing. He showed the true sadness that his character experienced. This movie as a whole contained many emotions ranging from enthusiasm to extreme sadness. I also really liked how the movie showed how the world would’ve looked if George was never born. I would totally recommend this movie to people who are not triggered by sensitive topics such as suicide.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
I would totally recommend this movie to anyone who loves a crazy family and especially for a crazy family during the holidays. This movie does an amazing job of showing that even if your family is driving you crazy you will always love them. I also highly recommend this movie if you are looking for a good laugh. I found this movie extremely funny during the entire film, but it had a few sentimental moments as well. This helped at some balance to the movie.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
The movie had an amazing soundtrack. Some of my favorites from the movie are ‘We’re a Couple of Misfits’, ‘Silver and Gold’ and ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’. Throughout the entire movie, the idea of accepting everyone even if they are different is brought up. The movie brings up the idea of achieving your dreams even if they make you different from the others. I totally recommend this movie to kids. It teaches them that they can do whatever they want to do in their life and that they need to accept everyone no matter their differences. It is nice seeing an end idea that is so positive.
White Christmas
White Christmas has many gorgeous costumes and outfits that many of the cast members wore during the film. The film has had wonderful dance routines that were just excellent to watch. Like they seemed like they were pulled directly from a dance studio. The actors also had amazing voices. They were strong and full of energy and emotion. You can especially see this in the opening scene during the war. The sadness was clearly expressed by not only the voice, but also the setting. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone, even kids.
Miracle on 34th Street
With the movie only 46 minutes long the story moves very fast. In the beginning, it is hard to follow the storyline until Chris Kringle and Susan meet and their two stories become one. Viewers get to watch as an adorable relationship forms between Chris and Susan. I would totally recommend this movie to families all over. I would especially recommend it to kids. It shows that as long as they believe in something it can be true.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
This movie has amazing acting from all the entire cast, but especially from Jim Carrey who plays the Grinch. This movie does an excellent job of showing that the holidays are not only about gifts and presents. It shows what the holidays are really about. This movie is also very laughable, but it also has it’s sweet and sentimental moments. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone, but small children may find the Grinch scary.
Home Alone
Home Alone takes 7th place mainly because of its unrealistic storyline. What kind of parents would forget their kid and then have their kid fight off two fully grown robbers. But, I will say the movie has amazing actors for its leads Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. It also had some amazing stunts which were performed by the actors themselves, except for Culkin who was a child at the time. This movie is great if you wanna have a laugh and get a little grossed out by certain pranks that Kevin pulled.
Elf
Elf is a movie that you can watch really only watch a few times before it gets old. It is very funny and childish, but it also talks about some very serious topics as well. It talks about the idea of parents who do not know that they have a kid because it was put up for adoption without their knowledge. I also think that Will Ferrel was really good in this movie. In general, Ferrel has a childish personality, but to have him play one makes it even better. He really fits into his character of Buddy the elf. I would recommend this movie to people who have never seen the movie or have only seen it a few times.
The Santa Clause
I think that this movie is very appropriate for kids of all ages and for adults. It helps show them to keep believing in the Christmas spirit even if other people tell them not to. I really enjoyed the relationship between Charlie and his father. I also think Tim Allen was hilarious in this movie especially when he was delivering presents. I would recommend this as a very family-friendly movie.
A Christmas Story
10
This movie is good if you want to laugh, but also watch as Ralphie learns a very important lesson of listening to his parents. Especially when asking for big Christmas presents. The movie does contain a scene that can be perceived as a little bit racist, so I probably would not recommend this movie to younger audiences.
