Soundtrack To My Life
By Victoria Baxter
Fight Song
By Rachel Platten
The song Fight Song reminds me of my heart complications when I was a baby. When I was born, my heart was not working as it should. I was fighting for my life. The lyrics that really mean a lot to me are "And I don't really care if nobody else believes. I've still got a lot of fight left in me". My doctors said that I would not be able to make it, but I kept fighting and I am now very healthy.
You've Got A Friend In Me
By Randy Newman
This song reminds me of the day my little sister, Veronica, was born. Veronica is my best friend and this song represents how I felt the first time I saw her. I want Veronica to know that she's got a friend in me and I will always love her.
Party Rock Anthem
By Alvin And The Chipmunks
When I was around four years old, one of my Christmas presents was a play kitchen set. I loved it so much, I started to sing this song. I started to sing and dance around my new kitchen set. This was most likely the moment my parents realized I would be a little performer!
First Day Of School
By Cocomelon Nursery Rhymes
My first day of kindergarten was a day I will never forget. I remember the first thing I did at school was cry because I was so nervous and missed my mom. Being away from home was so new to me, but I eventually made a lot of new friends and loved my first year of school. This song really displays how I first felt and how that feeling changed.
Love Is Here
By Tenth Avenue North
Love Is Here by Tenth Avenue North was the song I danced to at my first dance recital. This song means a lot to me because after this recital, I realized that I loved to dance. I loved the costumes, the makeup, and the feeling of being on stage.
Unstoppable
By Sia
Unstoppable by Sia reminds me of when I won my school spelling bee in fifth grade. I was so happy that day! I had studied my words every night (whether I wanted to or not) and came up with techniques to help me remember the words. When I won, I couldn't even believe it! All of that hard work had paid off and I felt like I could do anything, which reminded me of this song.
Move On Up
By Curtis Mayfield
Move On Up by Curtis Mayfield makes me think of my first day of middle school. This song was played during the middle school transition meeting at my elementary school. This song reminds me of that meeting and the first time I walked into Tidwell. That moment was me "moving on up" to the next phase of my life.
Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)
By Kelly Clarkson
This song by Kelly Clackson reminds me of the current Coronavirus pandemic. Everybody in the United States is trying to survive during these tough times. Stores have closed, students had to switch to remote learning for some time, and we can't even be within six feet of people anymore. Even though this pandemic has been challenging, it has made many people stronger and find a way to make the best of these times.
It's Ya Birthday
By DJ Spynfo
This song is so much fun and reminds me of my 13th birthday. I was so excited that I was officially a teenager! This year, my birthday was a little bit different since I could not have a party due to the pandemic. The day was still very incredible! When I woke up, I was greeted by streamers, balloons, a sash, and a tiara. (all rose gold, my favorite color!) I felt like a princess! I will never forget that day.
Run The World (Girls)
By Beyoncé
Kamala Harris made history as the first black woman as vice president. When she was elected, my mom started singing this song. This song reminds me that you can do anything and everything you put your mind to. When Kamala was elected, she showed a lot of girls, including me, that they can be anything.
