they are used to describe how you perceive the world around you.

They can talk about color, size, texture, flavour, sound, smell, moods and many more characteristics.

Some adjectives you know:

beautiful

expensive

hot

big

interesting

amazing

easy

delicious

noisy

These are just a sample of adjectives you can find in the vocabulary of the unit. You can also check the list I shared in Schoology for more.

How do we use adjectives in a sentence?

Usually adjectives are placed before the word they are describing.

  • A beautiful woman
  • An interesting book
  • A big challenge
  • A delicious meal
Yesterday, I ate a delicious meal.

Exception: When you use the verb "to be" or any other verb related to the 5 senses: sound, smell, taste, look, feel. In these cases, the adjective goes after the verb.

  • That exercise looks difficult.
  • The food smells delicious.
  • I feel sick today.
