Blast furnace
A blast furnace is a type of furnace used for smelting to produce industrial metals, generally pig iron, but also others such as lead or copper. Pig iron- not pure ; the iron made in blast furnace. Furnace- a device used for heating.
Blast furnace
Blast furnaces are very large. Blast furnaces are also called high ovens. The process of making iron is simple. Iron is made by removing the oxygen. This leaves crude iron called pig iron.
Blast furnace
A blast furnace is usually built with a steel case and bricks. The hot furnace cannot melt these bricks. The furnace is cooled with water running inside part of the case and bricks.
Modern blast furnace

Plumbing
You use your bathroom every day, but have you ever thought about where all this plumbing hardware started out? If you’re like most of us and take running water and toilets for granted, you might be surprised to know that plumbing has a very long and interesting history . What is plumbing? Plumbing -the system of pipes, tanks, fittings, required for the water supply, heating, and sanitation in a building.
Plumbing
Major human settlements could initially develop only where fresh surface water was plentiful, such as near rivers or natural springs. Throughout history, people have devised systems to make getting water into their communities and households and disposing of (and later also treating) wastewater more convenient.
Plumbing
The very first system of pipes to carry water from one place to another was built in the Iron age. Buildings here had wells and bathing areas with drains in the floors. They had bathrooms with septic tanks, very similar to modern-day bathrooms.
