There are many uses for this tense:
- We can use it to talk about facts, permanent situations, and opinions.
- We can use it for regular actions, habits and routines.
- We can use it to describe films, plays, books
Examples:
1-
- Facts: The sun doesn't go round the earth.
- Permanent situations: I don't live in the city
- Opinions/ideas: I think New Yourk is exciting
- Likes and dislikes: My brother likes rock music
- Routine or regular actions: He works there once a month.
- We generally use adverbs of frequency: always, never, sometimes or other time expressions: every day, once/twice a month, three times a week.

- Books/plays: the story takes place in.The United Kingdom. They main character works as a private detective.

Structure
The present simple is divided into two parts:a part with the verbt to be and another part with other verbs apart from the verb to be.
As you can see there are three structures. Sentences usually start with a SUBJECT, then follows a VERB and then an OBJECT.
The Verb to be :
Am-is-are
They are used in the three types of sentences ( positive, negative and question) We use a noun or an adjective after the verb to be.

- When we use verbs we do not use the verb to be.
- in the third person ( she-he-it) We add an "s" , "es", "is" to the verb ONLY IN A POSITIVE SENTENCE.
- In questions and negations we use the auxiliary DO or DOES
