Introduction
At WMG we are committed to empowering our employees to drive their professional development and embark on a journey that aligns with their personal goals and career aspirations. It is the mission of every member of the WMG team around the world to create a nurturing environment for artists, songwriters, and fellow employees at each stage of their career to foster a culture and build a future rooted in equity and inclusivity.
Career Jungle Gym
Progressing in a world that is fast-changing and unpredictable requires you to be flexible, agile, and open-minded. Rigid "career ladders" may not be as practical as a career jungle gym that encourages individuals to make horizontal or diagonal moves in order to gain new skills and experiences that will prove beneficial for long-term success. There are opportunities for our employees to move between labels, corporate and shared services in order to maximize breadth and depth of experience.
Your next move is as easy as 1 2 3...

AMP Conversations
AMP conversations are opportunities outside of your regular 1:1 meetings for you and your manager to focus on your professional development. The AMP process is goal orientated and conversations should help create alignment, clarity & purpose.
- Schedule your AMP conversation with your manager and come prepared by reviewing the conversation guide
- Discuss your successes and learnings
- Take notes and document/update your goals in Workday
- Conversations should be scheduled (at least) four or two times a year*
Performance and Career Conversations
*AMP is a global process. In some countries the AMP conversations are twice a year, in April & October

Tips for Effective Meetings
Regular meetings with your manager can be an effective way to measure your progress and help you stay on track in your development. Discussions should be a safe space for open and honest feedback. They are an opportunity to show you are invested in your professional growth and voice how your manager can best support you in your journey.
Schedule a reoccurring meeting and hold your manager accountable
Come prepared with topics you want to discuss
Don't just focus on status updates
Send questions/work in advance if time is needed to review
Take notes and follow up
Mentorships
Mentors act as a trusted advisor and can help you develop new skills, broaden your professional networks, and navigate your career journey.

Finding a Mentor
- Go to industry events
- Leverage your networks
- Join a mentorship program
Asking your Mentor
- Do your homework: How can this person help you achieve your goals. What experience or skills do they have that would make them a good mentor for you?
- Know yourself and your career plan: What kind of support are you looking for a mentor to provide? Identify your strengths, weaknesses, and current goals to help clarify areas where a mentor can provide guidance.
- Come with a plan: Think about the logistics of the relationship. How often will you meet? Will it be in person or virtual?

Evaluating Roles
At WMG you're expected to grow yourself with the support of our leaders. In that spirit, we encourage our people to apply for new opportunities and-to the best of our ability-will provide resources to facilitate the transition. To ensure you receive adequate support, you first need to understand what you need, how those needs can be met, and a timeline for when they need to be fulfilled. Follow the below steps to critically evaluate potential opportunities and draft a suitable priorities plan.
- Prioritize training & learning opportunities
- Draft a plan to achieve your next milestone within your desired timeframe
- Identify the skills & experience gaps
- Determine if those attributes are required to be eligible to apply
- Revisit your self-reflection
- Compare your strengths & areas for improvement to the job description
THINK About...
Progress intentionally
Progress efficiently
Progress effectively
Drafting a Plan
Now that you have taken the time to self-reflect, set your goals, and identify and evaluate potential opportunities, it is time to put it all on "paper" and create a plan. Documenting and prioritizing the steps in your career journey will help you stay focused, accountable and motivated. When drafting your plan, choose a method that works best for you to ensure you remain engaged with the process and continue to leverage this tool throughout your journey.
