recognize how to use the first conditional by listening and completing sentences.
What is a conditional?
They describe the result of something that might happen (in the present or future) or might have happened but didn't (in the past) .
Exist 4 types of conditionals:
- Zero Conditional
- First Conditional
- Second Conditional
- Third Conditional
Present Simple
Will
Subject + will + verb +complement
Subject + won't + verb +complement
will + SUBJECT + verb +complement + ?
First Conditional
The first conditional is used to talk about future events that might happen. it uses present simple using IF and future (will).
If + subject + verb + c, subject + will/won't + verb + Cor subject + will/won't + verb + c + if + subject + verb + c
Examples
If I finish now, I will have the afternoon free. If you study hard, you won't have problems entering university. She will be famous if she keeps healthy. If he works hard, he will recieve a promotion. We will be friends forever if nobedy gets married. You will be tall if you go to sleep early. If they keep yelling, the police will come.
Activity
Students have to choose the correct answer according to the sentence.
