The siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt a child to keep them company and work on the family farm in Green Gables. Matthew, upon contacting the orphanage in search of the child, sees instead a 13-year-old red-haired, freckled girl named Anne Shirley, with an imaginative and precocious character. The old farmer introduces her to her sister Marilla who is not agree with Anne's arrival. But with the pass of the time she accept her an make her officially a member of the Cuthbert family. Over time, Anne develops a great friendship with Diane Berry and other members of the Avonlea population, as well as discovering her love for Gilbert Blythe.
