Steps for USMLE Step Application

What do you need to do?

First, you need to register in USMLE. To register you will need the following information:

  • Name & Last Name (must exactly match the name listed on your government-issued identification that you will use on the test day)
  • Email
  • Date of Birth
  • Medical School
  • Graduation Year

What happens next?

USMLE will send you an email with your USMLE ID and a password (this may take up to one day for you to receive it). Once you receive this information, you can login. To start a new application, press where it says "NEW". It is recommended that you choose the elegibility period or "window" of three months from June to August. You will need to pay for the exam with a credit card.
