The Benz Patent Motorwagen

The Benz Patent-Motorwagen Nummer 1 (or Benz Tricycle 1), manufactured by Carl Benz in 1885, is considered to be the first automobile in history, because of the internal combustion engine that constitutes its propulsion system. This car has many similarities with modern cars, such as its gasoline engine, electric ignition, carburetor, water radiator and chassis. Carl Benz focused on developing a vehicle with an internal combustion engine fueled by oil. Benz would have completed his first Patent-Motorwagen in 1885. He presented it to the public on July 3, 1864 in Mannheim. The vehicle was patented in Germany in 1886. It is a tricycle with a steered front wheel. The engine is a single cylinder, equipped with a horizontal flywheel. Its power of 0.75 horsepower allowed it to reach a speed of 12.8 km/h during the first tests. A few examples were manufactured during the year 1886. In 1888, the Benz tricycle went on sale, but the public was not very enthusiastic about the new creation.

The Panhard & Levassor number 13

Energy : Petrol

In 1891, Panhard & Levassor two inventors designed and produced the first automobile with a Daimler V-twin engine, the "Panhard & Levassor n13". Panhard then took part in numerous races and won, among others, the Paris-Rouen race in 1894, the first major automobile race in the world, Paris-Bordeaux-Paris in 1895 and the Tour de France automobile in 1899. The Panhard cars dominated, everywhere, the automobile race until 1900, all with this car. The first models of this gasoline car were sold in Paris in 1886.

By Rudolf Diesel

Energy : Vegetable oil

Rudolf Diesel is the inventor of the internal combustion engine bearing his name, designed to run on vegetable oil instead of fuel. Diesel initially called this engine the "oil engine". The diesel engine, also known as the compression ignition engine, is a combustion and explosion engine whose combustion is triggered by the injection of fuel into the combustion chamber. The first commercialized engine was presented in 1900 at the Universal Exhibition in Paris.

The Ford T

Energy : Gasoline

On August 12, 1908, American automaker Henry Ford introduced the first mass-produced car: the Model T. Over the next twenty years, his company, the Ford Motor Company, sold fifteen million Model T cars. The Ford T is an automobile manufactured from 1908 to 1927 by the Ford Motor Company under the direction of Henry Ford. The Ford T makes 1908 the historic year when the automobile enters the era of mass production. It is generally considered to be the first car accessible to the masses, the one that "put America on wheels". Henry Ford innovated a lot in the manufacturing of the Model T: assembly line, not individual and manual , wages proportional to the price of the car for the workers, so that they form the basis of a guaranteed market. The Ford T was declared the most important car of the 20th century in an international survey.
