Daily 5

Read to Someone (30 min.)

Book Clubs Popcorn Read! :) 1) Meet with your Book Club on Zoom (Friday). 2) Choose a book to read together from the collection I sent you on Epic. This will be in your mailbox.

Word Work (20 min.)

Grab your sight-words bundle in your loose parts bag. Then choose at least 1 activity to work on below!

  • Build your words with play-dough!
  • Teach your stuffed animal or favorite toy how to read your words.
  • Practice writing your words on your whiteboard or write them on a piece of paper 3 times, in 3 different colors.
  • Write a story, poem, song, or recipe using as many of your words as you can. Highlight the words in your sentences.

Read to Self (20 min.)

Explore the books I sent you on Epic related to the ocean. As you read, write down what you're learning using post-it notes. What do you notice? What do you wonder?

W.O.W. (30 min.)

In your diary, write an entry for each one of the items in your matchboxes. For example, if you have 5 matchboxes, you will have 5 diary responses. Put yourself in your prominent person's shoes. Based on your research, what was life like for them? How do you think they feel? Write at least 3 sentences in your diary entry describing your matchbox item. What story can you create based on the facts you know about your person? You might need to infer the extra details; this means some of the details will be made-up or fictional. Like most movies, it's based on a true story (but not entirely true). Remember, you're writing from the perspective of that person. So you're pretending to BE this person.

Listen to Reading (30 min.)

1. Head to Seesaw and find the activity that says "Daily 5: Listen to Reading".
