Biography
His full name and last name is Henryk Goldszmit
His nickname in the newspapers is Hen. He studied medicine in Warsaw. He studied for 6 years. On studies he write novel ,,Dzieci ulicy''. (street children)
He was born on July 22, 1878 or 1879 in Warsaw
He loved reading books. Henryk liked to be in the ,,Ogród Saski''.
Henryk didn't like school because they got punishments
He went to school when he was 8 years old
Family
His father died in 1896. Janusz passed his last school exam in 1898)
His father's name was Józef and he was a famous Warsaw lawyer
The mother took care of Henryk. He had typhus,his mum also fell ill and she died on February 11 1920
His mother's name was Cecylia
He also had an older sister named Anna
his beloved grandmother was called Emilia Gębicka
When mom died, he was very sad.
Work in the hospital
He worked in the hospital for 7 years
he worked as a doctor at the Berson and Bauman Children's Hospital in Warsaw.
there was 25 beds in the hospital. He worked as a doctor in the army.
ORPHANAGE
He was director of the Orphanage. The orphanage was opened in February 1913. He worked with Stefania Wilczyńska. There was 85 children in orphanage. When he left the orphanage, he moved to live with his sister on Żurawia Street
OUR HOUSE
In 1919 he managed the orphanage "Our House" together with Falska. He was expert witness in children's matters. He developed courses for nurses
RADIO
In 1935 he worked in the radio. He worked under the nickname Stary Doktor (Old Doctor). In 1938 he published the novel ,,Pedagogika Żartobliwa". He was interested in religion. During the war he spoke to parents and children asking for peace. He received a certificate ,,Złoty Wawrzyn Polskiej Akademi Literatury''. (Polish Academy of Literature).
IN THE WARSAW GHETTO
The orphanage was moved to the ghetto. Janusz Korczak was arrested because he was not wearing an armband with the David star. He spent a month in prison. Janusz fought for an orphan's home. he looked for money, fought for gifts, organized secret education
The last play in the orphanage was staged on July 18, 1942 ,,Poczta''. The extermination action in the ghetto began on July 22, 1942 when Janusz had his birthday.

THE LAST WAY OF JANUSZ KORCZAK AND THE CHILDREN
The Nazis entered the orphanage on August 6, 1942. Janusz went to the camp with Wilczyńska and others, and with 200 children. they were transported to the extermination camp in Treblinka. They walked with their heads up, arranged in fours, holding hands.
There were as many as 17,000 symbolic stones. One of these stones is a monument to Janusz Korczak with children.
